2013 Spot Tens Totals

New York, NY (January 8, 2014) – Media Monitors – The Leader in Local Media Monitoring – has released its year-end research on spot counts on Radio, Broadcast TV and Local Cable for 2013.

Radio Spot Tens 2013 Totals

On the Radio last year, THE HOME DEPOT was #1 again with 2,254,684 spots on national radio. GEICO, the insurance giant, landed at #2 again last year airing 1,976,492 spots. IHEARTRADIO leapt from #38 to #3 with 1,600,619 announcements on the air. MCDONALD’S was #4 running 1,430,138 spots, while AUTOZONE parked at #5 with 1,008,174 ads. WALMART dropped from #5 to #6 with 856,274 spots and AT&T WIRELESS surged from #18 to #7 with 837,103 spots. STATE FARM planted at #8 airing 814,994 commercials, while MACY’S settled at #9 with 793,981 spots. Coming in #10 was O’REILLY AUTO PARTS with a total of 753,123 spots for the year 2013.

TV Spot Tens 2013 Totals

Broadcast TV, MCDONALD’S was clearly #1 with 1,042,156 spots for the year. The FORD DEALER ASSOCIATION was #2 airing 728,646 spots. AT&T took #3 running 697,146 ads, while WALMART moved up from #15 the previous year to #4 last year with 681,083 spots. TOYOTA drove into #5 from #21 by airing 619,956 spots, while the HONDA DEALER ASSOCIATION was #6 running 609,111 spots. PROGRESSIVE was #7 with 601,420 ads and AT&T WIRELESS soared from #24 up to #8 with 546,348 spots. CHEERIOS sat down at #9 with 527,361 spots, while GEICO slithered back down to #10 with 483,629 spots in 2013. Of note: if you combined the AT&T and AT&T WIRELESS spots, they ran 1,243,494 spots, which would make them #1 – it’s not complicated.

Cable Spot Tens 2013 Totals

On Local Cable, PROGRESSIVE flowed into #1 with 1,535,954 spots in 2013. GEICO, their competitor, was a close #2 with 1,463,995 ads. AT&T WIRELESS connected at #3 airing 841,087 spots, while WALMART made #4 with 834,621 spots. STATE FARM increased from #11 to #5 last year with 821,860 spots. PIZZA HUT sliced their way into #6 with 746,893 ads and SUBWAY was a solid #7 running 703,168 spots. ANGIE’S LIST slipped to #8 with 691,276, while MCDONALD’S took #9 with 689,407 spots. TACO BELL rang out in the year of 2013 with 638,697 spots making them #10.
